Book Review_Darling Mercy Dog World War 1

Book Review

Title: Darling The mercy dog World War 1
Type of book review: Describe a character

It all started with a dog, named Darling. She and her human family lived at the time, before the World War 1. Then one day, news came that there was war. Each family had to offer at least one man to go and fight. The dad volunteered himself, he was an old man, but he had to go. The day came , when he had to go, his family, wished him good luck, and then he went of. From that day onward, things began to get even harder, than letting a member of the family go to war. The food stock was getting lower, there was not a lot of water, and some food prices were getting dearer. A letter came, and it said that they would have to pay a lot more money, to keep Darling with them, and if they didn’t have enough money to pay, then they would send Darling off to war. The children cried, especially the sister. The rest of the story, then goes on about what they had to do to get the dogs trained and ready for war. It also said some amazing things that Darling did, what happened in the war, and what Darling did, to help in the war.

Darling, is a normal female dog. She lives with a human family, which has a girl, boy, mum and dad. Sometimes, Darling would run away from home, and go and visit her friend. But her life soon changes, to a word of fighting, war and hatred. She doesn’t know what she’s doing there, but she then, learns from it.

I like this story, because its main character is a dog, and it also shows what amazing things someone can do…even a dog. The characters were believable, and there wasn’t any gruesome descriptions, that I could tell of.
I recommend this book for, people who like animals, and are interested in the roles of animals who help in the war.

Nunuku's Law of Peace

Laws are important, Nunuku thought so to, so he made a law, here is a write up of it.
Nunuku, a chief, saw that there was a lot of fighting among the tribes of Rekohu. He then called for a stop to the war, and killing, so he made a law, that wouldn’t allow people to draw blood from another person, but they would still be able to fight. All the Rekohu chiefs agreed to this.

Even though they had a good reason for the no fighting law, there was some bad effects from it. In 1835, Rekohu, was invaded by some tribes of New Zealand, so all the chiefs gathered together and discussed what to do. Then they decided, after a long discussion, that they wouldn’t fight, because they didn’t want to disobey/break Nunuku’s law. They also decided that they would not only, not fight the invaders, but share their land with them. Over two hundred Morioris were killed, the people who survived, became slaves, or died in custody.

In 1870, the native land court, awarded, 97.3 percent, of the land of Rekohu, to Ngati Mutunga. The Moriori were only given 2.7. Then, in 1988, the Moriori seeked for their land, fishing authority, and the recognition of their identity, and of their culture. 2001, was when Hokotehi Moriori Trust was notified to represent all Moriori people.  Then, in 2004, Moriori got back their fishing rights, by the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission. A year after, on the 21st of January, Kopinga Marae was opened by Helen Clark, Prime Minister of New Zealand. In 2008, Hokotehi and the Crown set up a $6 million trust fund to help rebuild Moriori culture and identity.
These are the reasons why laws are important.

My study on heat energy

Heat is the change of temperature. It is sensitive to both hot and cold. Heat is made up of atoms, molecules and energy. We can measure heat in three ways, conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction is the process or action of heat or electricity that is directly transferred through a substance. The material is directly affected by the change of temperature. The process of heat or electricity, is passed through a substance. Convection is the movement caused within a liquid that likely transferred and spread heat. It is the rapid motion of heat causing less dense material to rise and the colder material to sink down . Radiation is the release of the electromagnetic waves as energy, which causes ionization of molecules to positive and negative atom bonding. By: Estelle

Jaheelot

Jaheelot
The Jaheelot has a tail of a Jaguar, legs of a cheetah, and a head of an Ocelot, and lives in dry, grassy plains. It can run away and escape from predators quickly. It is one of it’s survival features. It runs 70 kms per hour just like a cheetah. When trying to catch it’s prey, it’ll pounce and jump on it, until the prey is out of breath. The Jaheelot may hunt larger animals than it’s own size, like, gazelle’s, zebra’s, and deer. Sometime’s it would also hunt down hare’s, rabbit’s and guinea pigs. It’d be rare to find a Jaheelot being picky about it’s food. As long as there is food in it’s stomach, the Jaheelot’s happy. It eats fish, meat and plants, for it’s an omnivore. Survival is what the Jaheelot is good at. It’ll kill it fast, then devour it nastily.

But do not be fooled by it’s innocent features.
